Genova Ball Dahlia

The enchanting purple blooms of 'Genova' Ball Dahlia can range from ethereal pale lavender to a warmer pinky plum. Vigorous plants produce an abundance of the distinctive, 2-4" diameter flowers on tall, sturdy stems, making them a standout in the garden. Like other Ball Dahlias, these have a long vase life, making them a must-have in bouquets — and because the flowers are slightly smaller than other ball varieties, they are especially suited to mixed bouquets, where they won't overpower other summer blooms. These beauties thrive in containers; a pair of planters near a sunny entryway offers a warm welcome to visitors.

Dahlias are perennial in zones 8-10, but in cooler zones, tubers can be dug after frost comes, stored over winter, then re-planted the following spring. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once it begins to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers and pinch off small side buds to encourage larger flowers if desired.
