Fothergilla is native to swamps and woodlands in the Southeastern region of the United States. This nativar is a hybrid of F. major and F. gardenii. It thrives in rich, well-drained slightly acidic soil, but is easily adaptable to a wide range of soil and moisture conditions. Flowering and fall color are affected by sunlight, moisture, and temperature; they’ll be best on plants in full sun, but in the hottest climates the plants can benefit from some late afternoon shade.
