Native to the 14-mile wide limestone cedar glade near Nashville, Tennessee Purple Coneflower was listed as critically endangered by the US Fish & Wildlife Service in 1979, only the second plant ever added. Happily, 32 years of public and private conservation efforts led to Tennesee Purple Coneflower being removed from the list in 2011.
